👋 A Note from Jason
Rock and Roll Round Robin takes over the Foley Event Center this weekend — Aug 28–30, 18 rubberized indoor courts, classic rock playing courtside for three straight days. Registration's closed (211 players deep as of this week), but if you want to watch some genuinely good pickleball, show up and cheer.
Bloody Mary 5K is 11 days out — the championship race of the Run the Coast Summer Series. If you ran the Shark 5K back on the Fourth, this is where you pick up the series finisher medal.
September 12 is shaping up to be a two-event Saturday: Walk This Way's 80s 5K and block party in Foley, and the Brett Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon down in Gulf Shores. Both good, both the same morning — pick your adventure.
And last call: the Miles for Heroes discount code (15% off, Localmotion15off) expires at the end of this month, which means this is the last issue you'll see it in. If Sept 26 is anywhere on your radar, now's the time.
Let's get into it. 👇
🤯 Wait — Did You See This?!?!
An ER doctor in Cleveland named Stephen Biebelhausen just ran a mile in 4:17 — while pushing his daughter in a jogging stroller. Not a typo. Four minutes, seventeen seconds, extra weight, extra wind resistance, steering included. He beat the previous stroller-mile world record (4:26, set last year) by nine seconds, split it 2:12 out and 2:05 back, and by his own account went into the run thinking the record was 4:44 — so he had no idea how big the margin actually was until after.
For context, my own personal mile PR — no stroller, no daughter, no wind resistance, just me and my own poor life choices — isn't even in the same conversation. Guinness verification is still pending on his run. Mine wouldn't need it. Nobody's rushing to verify a time that slow.

🏃 RUNNING
🏃 This is why I love running — no matter how rough the week's been, work stress, a bad day, whatever life decided to throw at me — there's still nothing that resets my head like lacing up and getting out the door. Doesn't matter how slow. The miles don't care what kind of day you had. They just let you have it.
🔥 This Weekend
Nothing on the local race calendar this weekend — a quiet stretch before the next training cycles kick in. Good week to just log easy miles.
